9 Ways to Clean Using Limes

Whenever you hear about the creative cleaning uses of fruit, it seems that all you hear about are the powers of lemons. Well, limes are equally as great when it comes to cleaning, and below are 9 great ways to clean with them.

1. Clean the Coffee Maker

Pour the juice of three limes into your coffee maker’s reservoir. Add water, let it sit for around 30 minutes, then run the coffee maker without a filter. Once completed, wait 30 more minutes, the run once more with plain water to rinse.

2. Refresh the Garbage Disposal

Toss a few slices of lime into the garbage disposal to freshen it up.

3. Remove Odors off Hands

Rub your hands with lime juice to remove any lingering cooking odors from them.

4. De-stink the Dishwasher

Squeeze some lime juice into the bottom of your dishwasher to help neutralize any odors.

5. Make Stainless Steel Shine

Sprinkle half a lime with some salt, then rub it gently over your stainless-steel appliances. Then wipe it down with a soft cloth. This same process can also help remove water stains from faucets.

6. Clean the Microwave

Pour some lime juice into a glass Pyrex or microwavable bowl. Cook it for 6 minutes. Once completed, wipe down the inside of the microwave with a soft, dry cloth.

7. Clean Wooden Utensils

Wipe down wooden cutting boards, rolling pins, bowls, and utensils with lime juice to remove the odors that have built up over time.

8. Prevent Mildew

Mix together equal parts of lime juice and baking soda. Scrub the mixture onto bathroom grout and tiles. Let it sit for 3 hours before rinsing off.

9. Clear the Air

Boil some slices of lime in a pot of water to help remove any lingering odors from the kitchen. You should let it boil for 30-45 minutes.
