Fascinating Syringe Art

Kimberly Joy Mallo Magbanua, who works as a nurse in the Philippines, is gaining popularity online for her unique artwork that she makes using syringes. Two years ago, when she was giving her patients their medications, the idea struck her that she could use these tools as paintbrushes.

It usually takes her 3-6 hours to complete one piece of work, but it’s a lot more technical than just filling up a syringe with paint and releasing it onto a canvas. She has to use different needle gauges depending on the details she wants to achieve, and since the paint dries up quickly in the syringe, she has to change the needles quite often.

Below you’ll find a selection of her best works.
