The Pygmy Marmosets - Finger-Sized Monkeys!

These monkeys are pygmy marmosets, and received the nick name "Finger monkeys" because of their petite size and their habit of hugging the finger of anyone holding them. Most of them reach a size of 20 cm tall. Compared to other monkeys, they show primitive characteristics, such as having claws instead of fingernails, sensory hairs on their hands, and a comparatively simple brain structure.

Their body temperature changes in the extreme, up to 4 degrees a day. They are very active, live on the upper canopy of trees, and live on a diet of insects, fruits and leaves. They are very social animals, and in the wild they live in groups of 6-10 (adults and younglings).
