The Same Things in Other Languages

In different parts of the world, familiar sounds and phrases can be interpreted in a completely different way. In English, a dog will go “Woof”, but in other languages, it can be “Gao” or “Jappe”! A kiss in English will sound like “Smack”, but go to another country and that smooch becomes “Moptsi” or “Tsiom”… English artist James Chapman created many wonderful infographics displaying just such differences. You can find more on his website.
