Pagans are individuals who believe in a number of different gods mostly connected to nature, and although the religion has largely faded out, there are still a number of devout pagans in the world. Modern-day pagans perform a number of ceremonies and rituals associated with ancient pagan traditions, one of those being the act of dressing up as magical creatures in order to ward off bad spirits. Today, there are a number of pagan communities spread out all over the world, but they are mainly concentrated in areas of Eastern Europe and in some places in America. Photographer Charles Freger traveled to over 19 European countries to photograph these wonderful ritual costumes, some of them being ancient and others modern.
