The Birth of the Praying Mantis - Fascinating!

Although the praying mantis is mostly known for bizarre mating habits (the female biting the head of the male after intercourse), here's another interesting tidbit.

When a female praying mantis is ready to lay her eggs, she secrets a gooey substance on branch, foams it up and lays about 200 eggs in it. It hardens around them for protection. After about a month, tiny praying mantis babies make their way out. See these rare photos of this special and unique process of nature.
