How to Remove Unwanted Upper Lip Hair

 Most women visit the beauty salon to remove their upper lip hair. But, what if you don't need to do so anymore? Instead of opting for an expensive treatment or product to remove your lip hair, read on to discover what natural treatments you can try in the comfort of your own home.

1. Turmeric And Milk

1 tablespoon turmeric
1 tablespoon water or milk

What to do: Combine the turmeric powder with the water or milk well and apply on your upper lip, leaving it on for half and hour. Once hardened, gently rub or wash it off. Do this once every couple of weeks.

Why it works: Turmeric powder has been used as an active ingredient in beauty products. It cleanses you skin, beautifies it and ensure that you glow all the time. Milk is also beneficial for your skin, where its lactic acid content exfoliates the skin, and its amino acids moisturize it. Combining these two ingredients can help in removing upper lip hair naturally. 

2. Egg White

Ingredients: 

1 egg white
1 teaspoon corn flour
1 teaspoon sugar

What to do: Combine the egg white with the corn flour and sugar and whisk until it forms a sticky paste. Apply the paste on the upper lip region and let it dry for 30 minutes, then peel it off. Do this twice a week, and within a month you will notice the hair growth has considerably reduced. 

Why it works: Egg whites are another good remedy for upper lip hair. It soothes your skin while at the same time, it helps you dislodge the hair from its follicles with the enzymes it contains. 

3. Chana Dal Flour

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon chana dal flour
A pinch of turmeric
Water

What to do: Combine the flour with a bit of water and turmeric, blending well. Then, apply on the upper lip, waiting for it to dry and scrub it off against the direction of the hair growth. Apply this on your upper lip twice a week.

Why it works: This flour is an excellent ingredient to remove unwanted hair effectively. 

4. Sugar

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
A soft piece of cloth

What to do: Take the sugar in a pan allowing it to heat for a minute, then add the fresh lemon juice. Stir until a thick liquid is formed. Once cooled, apply on the upper lip region. Then, take a piece of cloth and gently put it over the applied paste, rubbing it in circular motions. Pull it off quickly against the direction of the hair growth. Use this simple homemade hair removal solution when required. 

Why it works: Sugar is a well-known ingredient used for painless hair removal. Aside from removing hair, it prevents growth too. 

5. Yogurt, Gram Flour, And Turmeric

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon besan
1 teaspoon yogurt
A pinch of turmeric

What to do: Combine the yogurt, besan and turmeric in a bowl mixing it well and massage the upper lip with this paste, then wait for about 15-20 minutes and rub it off gently, then wash the area with cold water. Do this twice a week until the hair growth on your upper lip is entirely unnoticeable. 

Why it works: These three ingredients, combined, form a smooth mixture that when scrubbed off removes unwanted hair on your upper lip.

6. Flour

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon wheat flour
1 tablespoon milk
A pinch of turmeric

What to do: Combine all the ingredients to form a thick paste. Apply the mixture on the upper lip area and wait for it to dry. Once dried, slowly peel off the mask and rinse the area with water. Do this every 3 to 4 days for best results. 

Why it works: This is one of the easiest and simplest methods of upper lip hair removal. This method loosens the hair follicles and the hair can easily be removed when the mask is peeled off.

7. Lemon And Sugar

Ingredients:

1 lemon
1 tablespoon sugar

What to do: Squeeze the lemon and add the sugar to it, stirring well until it becomes a paste. Once ready, apply it all over the upper lip and let it dry for 15 minutes, washing it off with water. Apply this past every alternate day. 

Why it works: Lemon contains acids that have bleaching properties and lighten the hair on the upper lip. The sugar helps to exfoliate the skin, making the hair loosen in their follicles, which is why they easily detach from the skin. 

8. Sugar Waxing

Ingredients:

4 chamomile tea bags
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Water
Popsicle stick
Waxing strip

What to do: Take the chamomile tea bags, putting them in a saucepan and bringing to the boil. Once it has boiled, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the tea bags steep for around 30 minutes then throw the tea bags and pour out half a cup of tea. Next, pour a cup of water into a saucepan and add some water to the chamomile tea you have extracted. Add the sugar and the lemon juice, stirring well. Heat the mixture till it boils, and wait till the color turns darker. Then, remove the saucepan from the heat and transfer the mixture to a bowl, letting the sugar wax cool down. Don't apply it on your skin when it is hot. Use a popsicle stick to spread over your upper lip and apply a waxing strip to it. Hold it for a few seconds and pull it off quickly. Be sure to do so in the opposite direction of the hair growth. It is advisable for the hair to grow to their full length before waxing, so that all of them can be taken off at once. 

Why it works: Many women prefer to wax at home, by themselves, instead of spending money at the salon. The sugar paste will pull the hair from its follicles and slow down growth with multiple uses. The addition of the chamomile tea bags is very beneficial, as chamomile is soothing for the skin. 

9. Lemon and honey

Ingredients:

½ tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey
Warm water
Washcloth

What to do: Apply a mixture of honey and lemon juice on the upper lip and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Soak the washcloth in warm water and wring out the excess water. Use it to gently wip off the paste. Then, rinse you face with water. Do this 2-3 times in a week. 

Why it works: In this home remedy for upper lip hair removal, honey works as a mild wax and helps pull out the hair from the follicles.

10. Potato Juice

2 tablespoons yellow lentils
1 tablespoon potato juice
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Water

What to do: Soak the lentils in water overnight, straining them in the morning and grinding them with the lemon juice and freshly extracted potato juice - from a grated potato. To this paste, add the honey and mix well, then apply on the upper lip and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Once dried, scrub the paste off, wash your face with water. Best results are attained when used twice a week. 

Why it works: Like most remedies, the contents of the pack will unclog pores and pull away from the upper hair lip when scrubbed off from the skin.
