15 Psychological Tricks to Read People

How would things be different if you had the capacity to read other people's minds? While some of us have the capacity to use our intuition, if you are not as perceptive, the only choice left is to learn how to read people's body language. We get over 55% of information through nonverbal communication. So, next time, unmask a person by deciphering what they think or feel in these 15 ways:

1. Closing the eyes
body language
If you notice a person closing their eyes while they talk to you, they are trying to hide from the outside world. It means that they are trying to get rid of you because they might be tired of you. Naturally, once they close their eyes, they can no longer see you.
2. Covering the mouth with a hand
body language
This move may take us back to our childhood years, when we would cover our mouth because we didn't want to tell something. Still, it's something that can happen in our adult lives too. When we cover our mouth with a few fingers, a palm or even a fist near the mouth, we do so to stop us from releasing the words that we don't want to say. Sometimes the gesture is disguised by fake coughing.
3. Biting the arms of their glasses
body language
When you see a person biting the arms of their glasses, offer them support or cheer them up. This move indicates that they are worried about something on a subconscious level and they are trying to feel safe. A pencil, pen, cigarette and chewing gum in the mouth can indicate the same thing.
4. Presentation of the face
body language
This gesture is generally used for attracting people of the opposite sex. When we put our chins on our hands we present our faces as if we are trying to say: 'this is me. You can enjoy as much as you want.' If you're a man, memorize this gesture to catch the moment and give a perfectly-timed compliment.
5. Rubbing the chin
body language
When people are trying to make a decision, this is what they do. They might be looking down, up, to the side, or just about anywhere, but they hardly even know what they are looking at because they tend to be deep in thought.
6. Crossed arms
body language
This popular gesture helps people shut themselves off from others. It is often used when we are irritated by something and is a clear sign that a person is not feeling good about something.

7. Fixing the appearance
body language
In most situations, when a woman wants a man to like her, she presents herself in the best way possible. She straightens her back to highlight her breasts and will likely cross her legs.
8. Leaning forward
body language
When people like someone and they want to connect with them they usually lean forward. In this position, the legs remain motionless, but the body moves forward intuitively.
9. Leaning back
body language
When someone leans back on their chair, they are showing that they are tired of the conversation. It may also indicate that they feel uncomfortable in the presence of the other person.
10. Swinging from heels to toes
body language
This isn't something that just children do. It indicates that person feels anxious about something.
11. Rubbing hands
body language
It is said that what we do with our hands reflects what is on our minds. Rubbing the hands together generally means that a person has a positive feeling about something and shows that they are hopeful. We do this when we thinking about some benefits that we'll likely gain in the future.
12. “Glove” handshake
body language
A person who takes your wrist with their free hand is attempting to show you that they can be trusted.
13. Handshake with a palm facing the ceiling
body language
A palm placed on top of another's hand signals that the person is feeling sympathetic. Yet this is true only if a person does it instantly. If on the other hand the handshake has been held for some time, then the person puts their hand on top, it indicates that this person wants to let you know who is in charge here.
14. Handshake with a palm facing the floor
body language
Holding someone's hand from below? This illustrates that you want to tell them that you are ready to help.
15. Handshake with a touch
body language
Sometimes, people touch others with their free hands. They may touch the forearm, the elbow, or the back of the other person. This invasion of private space means that a person lacks communication. The closer a person aims for the torse, the more the person needs company.
