The Beauty of Spring

Each season brings a beauty of its own, though I must admit, spring is by far my favorite season of the year. As the beautiful flowers and dormant plants bloom once again, brown landscapes are once again filled with a lush green color. These stunning images, accompanied by one of my favorite poems: 'Spring' by Gerard Manley Hopkins are reminiscent of this glorious season.

Nothing is so beautiful as Spring -

spring

When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;

spring

Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush,

spring

Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring,

spring

The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;

spring

The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush,

spring

The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush,

spring

With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling.

spring

What is all this juice and all this joy?

spring

A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning,

spring

In Eden garden. – Have, get, before it cloy,

spring

Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning,

spring

Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy,

spring

Most, O maid’s child, thy choice and worthy the winning.
