The 10 Most Beautiful Cars of the 21st Century to Date

The automotive world is always about function over form, but the way a car looks is arguably just as important because their looks are one of the main reasons why we go out and buy them. This is especially true of sports cars, which are designed to excite us, make us dream and give us a thrill. Since the turn of the 21st Century, many truly great cars have gone on sale, but these 10 are some of the most beautiful to see the light of day in the time since. Enjoy these 10 beauties we believe make the cut:

1. Audi R8

The R8 first broke cover back in 2006, to much fanfare. It quickly established itself as the benchmark supercar that you can use every day. A full 11 years later, the model is still going strong, with Audi releasing numerous limited edition versions and upgraded engines. It was also the first production car to sport the now-ubiquitous daytime running lights.
2. Aston Martin DB11
most-beautiful-cars
Aston Martin had a hard job topping its efforts with the outgoing DB model, the DB9, which was widely considered to be one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. With the DB11, they have managed to go even better, along with offering customers much-improved performance and refinement.
3. Jaguar F-Type
most-beautiful-cars
This car is the spiritual successor to the legendary Jaguar E-Type of the 1960s, which was an incredibly hard act to follow in terms of how it looked. The F-Type pays homage to that classic model, and motoring journalists the world over have sung its praises following its release in 2013.
4. Ford GT
most-beautiful-cars
This exercise in retro styling, paying tribute to the GT40 Le Mans car of the 1960s, went on sale for the 2005 model year. It has since been replaced by the second-generation Ford GT, but this is arguably the more beautiful car of the two. The first-generation GT was capable of hitting 205mph. Just over 4,000 of them were built before the end of production.
5. Mazda Furai Concept
most-beautiful-cars
This stunning concept car was first shown to the world's media at the 2008 North American International Motor Show. While concepts don't normally run, this one had a Le Mans racer's chassis underneath its "Nagare" design bodywork. Sadly, it was destroyed during its first-ever road test in 2013. It caught fire on a circuit, burning all the unique bodywork to a crisp.

6. Alfa 8C Competizione
most-beautiful-cars
This limited-edition Alfa Romeo, which was limited to just 500 units worldwide, features a 4.7-liter Ferrari V8 under its long hood. While it's a somewhat flawed car, it's also happens to be an achingly beautiful one, so it sold out almost as soon as it went on sale despite costing over $250,000 in the USA.
7. Aston Martin Vanquish
most-beautiful-cars
Although the first-generation Vanquish model was as pretty as can be, the second-generation is a bona-fide show-stopper, making jaws drop wherever it goes. It takes styling cues from the One-77 hypercar and the outgoing DBS model that it replaced. The car has a V12 engine under the hood, and it's also available as a convertible, known as a Volante.
8. BMW i8
most-beautiful-cars
BMW's flagship hybrid model, created in order to show what BMW was capable of designing, is strikingly beautiful. In fact, the car appears as if it has come from the future. It is powered by a tiny 1.5-liter petrol engine, together with a series of electric motors. It has proven popular around the world since it went on sale in 2014.
9. Lamborghini Murcielago
most-beautiful-cars
Although it has since been replaced by the Aventador, Lamborghini's flagship V12 supercar was in production for almost a decade. While later models sprouted wings, spoilers and the like, the undiluted original shape of the car arguably remains the most beautiful.
10. Ferrari 488
most-beautiful-cars
This car's predecessor is simply one of the best supercars ever made, so it has a lot to live up to. Ferrari is a manufacturer that can blend form and function like no-one else in the world, and this is evidenced in the beauty and simplicity of the recently-released 488.
