Peering Down These Spiral Staircases Does Something to You

I've always been captivated by the mesmerizing mental effect of winding stairwells. Standing at the top of certain staircases and peering down provides the eyes with such a surprisingly satisfying thrill, as you try to move your eyes along the endlessly swirling contours. For some people the effect can be quite dizzying, it's true! That's what makes this 'Time Machine' series of Bauhaus and Art Deco caracoles in Budapest, Hungary by Balint Alovits so wonderful. It's the first time I've seen such a careful study of the unnoticed architectural masterpieces that are stairwells.

Get lost in the eternal spiraling shapes these staircases seem to present, and feel yourself standing on the precipice of space and time.

The presentation is accompanied by music - We recommend you turn on your speakers.
