There's a Reason Why You Constantly Need to Urinate...

Don’t you just hate it when you’re all set to leave the house and then you have to run back inside to pee?

When you get to work, you have to go again, even though you’ve just went before you left home. If you have such a problem, then rest assured that you’re not alone. Although it’s embarrassing and can interfere with your day-to-day life, it doesn’t mean that you can’t take hold of it and address the issue.

There's a Reason Why You Constantly Need to Urinate...

The likelihood is that it’s something called Incomplete Bladder Emptying, which, exactly as its name suggests, is a reference to a bladder that is incapable of emptying itself fully when you go to the bathroom. The lingering urine in the bladder is what makes you run to the bathroom constantly, and as a side effect, it could also make you more susceptible to urinary tract infections.

There are various reasons for IBE developing in an individual such as their age, hormones and genetics. It is equally as prevalent in men as it is in women. It is said that the bladder can hold up to 150ml or 5 oz. in excess urine before constant trips to the bathroom and potential infections become an issue.

Here are two methods you can use to test for IBE without having to undergo an ultrasound:

1. Belly Pressing Test

This one is as easy as it sounds. All you have to do is press on your stomach with both hands after urinating. Press your belly inwards right above your pelvic bone. You might feel the urge to pee again when doing so. If this slight pressure makes you feel like you need to go to the bathroom again, it’s recommended that you see a urologist immediately.

2. Double-Voiding Test

Another simple test is to go to the bathroom as normal, and then go again a mere 10 minutes later. If you’re able to pee again the second time round, then this means that there’s retained urine in your bladder. Make sure you see your urologist in the near future if this occurs.

The very best thing you can do for your bladder is to incorporate flaxseed into your diet.  This miracle food soothes the lines of the urinary tract, prevents infection, and makes urination easier.

You can eat flaxseed with your morning bowl of oatmeal or yogurt, or blend it into a smoothie to boost your urinary health.
