Lao-Tzu was a philosopher and poet of ancient China. He is best known as the reputed author of the Tao Te Ching and the founder of philosophical Taoism, but he is also revered as a deity in religious Taoism and traditional Chinese religions. Although a legendary figure, he is usually dated to around the 6th century BC and considered to be a contemporary of Confucius. Below are 31 of his greatest inspirational quotes: 
 
 
On Strength and Power 
Lao-Tzu - All streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power.
Lao-Tzu - In the world there is nothing more submissive and weak than water. Yet for attacking that which is hard and strong, nothing can surpass it.

 

 

Lao-Tzu - If you want to govern the people, you must place yourself below them. If you want to lead the people, you must learn how to follow them.
Lao-Tzu - Silence is a source of great strength.
Lao-Tzu - Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner.
