The Slow Buildup To The Great Depression

The Great Depression occurred as a result of the stock market crash in New York City not long after World War I.  The collapse of the stock market was appropriately titled Black Tuesday and left an entire country in disarray. The Great Depression began in 1930 and lasted over a decade. Nearly one out of every four Americans remained unemployed during these iron-hard times.

These photos sum up the shocking sights of this of this historic era.
