The Most Accomplished People in Sports Today!

There is something about great athletes and incredible moments in sport that’s truly unforgettable and mesmerizing. I can remember how I used to sit by the TV as a child and be amazed by the feats of talent, team-work and skill I saw performed by some of the world's best superstars. If you consider yourself a sports fan, these people and these teams are the kind of legends you must be familiar with.

NBA - National Basketball Association

Who are the Most Accomplished People in Sports?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the highest scoring player in the history of the NBA with 38,387 points scored in the years 1969 – 1989. The American center played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers and won a record six time NBA Most Valuable Player, a record 19 time NBA All-Star, and was a member of six NBA championship teams.

While no one will argue that Abdul-Jabbar was one of best basketball players in the world, there is one title he can't claim, which belongs to Bill Russell. Russell played center for the Boston Celtics from 1956 to 1969. A five-time NBA Most Valuable Player and a twelve-time All-Star, Russell was the centerpiece of the Celtics dynasty, winning eleven NBA championships during his thirteen-year career. That is the most championships wins by a single player to this day, and it's even more amazing that they were won by the same team.

From 1957 until today the team made it to 21 NBA finals and won 17 of them, the last one in 2008.

The record holder for most points in the NFL is Morten Andersen, nicknamed "The Great Dane". Born in Denmark in 1960, Andersen played in the NFL from 1982 to 2007 and scored 2,544 points. He is notable for also being the all-time leading scorer for two different, rival teams: The New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons. Probably the best NFL Kicker of all times, Andersen also holds the record for most games played (382), oldest player to score 14 points in a game (at the age of 47) and most game winning field goals (103).
